GIRIDIH COLLEGE, GIRIDIH The emblem of Giridih College, Giridih features a circle with four panels housing the motifs of a banyan tree, rising sun, a miner with a pickaxe and a range of mountains supported by a pair of stalks of grain. The name of the college and its motto are written in Devanagari on a circular border around the motifs. The motto reads in Sanskrit ‘सरस्वती श्रुतिमहती महीयताम्’ (Abhigyanshakuntalam, Mahakavi Kalidas) meaning ‘May Saraswathi Bless Increasing Glory of the Scholars’. This assemblage is placed in a sprocket wheel , which symbolises technology and science. The tree symbolises strength, individuality, expression, calmness, growth, the interconnectedness of everything and perpetuity;  the sun refers to the dawn of knowledge and enlightenment through education; the mountains represent the local geography- Giridih literally means ‘land of hills’; the miner symbolises the local mining industry, particularly the mica and coal mines for which Giridih is...
