GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, LYLH KOTHI (GDC LYLH KOTHI) The emblem of Government Degree College, Lylh Kothi (GDC Lylh Kothi) features a teal circle housing the motifs of a mountain range with peaks and radiating orange sun supported by an open book and a red ribbon inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘आरोह तमसो ज्योति’ (inspired from 1.3.28, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad), which translates to ‘Ascend from Darkness into the Light’. The teal circle is ensconced by a blue circle with a teal border inscribed with the name of the college. The mountain peaks symbolise the geographic landscape of the Himalayas with the rugged terrain of Chamba, Himachal Pradesh where the college is located; the sun symbolises the dawn of knowledge, enlightenment and vitality; and the book is the universal symbol for academic learning, accessibility to knowledge and formal higher education.
