GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, PATTAN (GDC PATTAN) The emblem of Government Degree College, Pattan (GDC Pattan) features an orange circle with abstract depiction of snow clad mountains with bright rising sun in orange and flowing waters ensconced by a green and blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. Below the seal, on a violet banner, the motto of the college in Arabic ‘من الظلمات إلى النور’ is written. The rising sun represents dawn, awakening and the dawn of a new era of knowledge. The sun rays cutting across the sky symbolise the spread of education throughout the community, driving away social and intellectual darkness. The snow-capped mountains represent lofty ideals, high ambitions and the local geography. It honours the majestic Himalayan terrain of Kashmir, reminding students to aim high and stand resilient like the peaks.
