ST. MARY’S COLLEGE OF EDUCATION (SMCE) The emblem of St. Mary’s College of Education (SMCE) features a helm of a ship supporting a crab holding a cross with Jesus Christ. The motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college and its motto ‘Grow and Serve’. The helm or wheel of the ship represents leadership and direction. In an educational context, it symbolises the college's role in ‘steering’ students toward a successful future and navigating the ‘sea’ of life. The crab is a specific reference to the coastal and fishing heritage of the Seydunganallur and Thoothukudi regions. The Crucifixion represents the college's Christian foundation and commitment to the teachings of Jesus. It symbolises sacrifice, service, and the source of wisdom.
