The pedestal supporting the seal is inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘आनो भद्राः ऋतवो अस्तु विश्वतः’ (Sukta 89, Mandal 1, Rig Veda) meaning ‘I Pray that Virtuous Ideas Will Come To Me From Every Direction’. The hoe and the rifle refers to the famous slogan coined by the Late Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri ‘जय जवान, जय किसान’ (Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan); the lamp signifies the light of knowledge dispelling ignorance; the book represents academic learning, knowledge, and the pursuit of truth; the serrated border or gear-like or sunburst outer edge often symbolizes industrial progress or the radiant energy of enlightenment.
