ARUMUGAM PILLAI SEETHAI AMMAL COLLEGE (APSA COLLEGE) The emblem of Arumugam Pillai Seethai Ammal College (APSA College) features the gopuram of the famous Sri Brahmapureeswarar Temple, where a 6-foot idol of Lord Brahma meditates in a lotus posture supporting a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (a traditional lamp) and supported by a blue banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘உள்ளுவதெல்லாம் உயர்வுள்ளல்’  (596, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘All One thinks About Should be About High Things’. Below these, the motifs of a veena, a lotus and palmleaf manuscript are placed. The assemblage is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The gopuram of the temple is the local landmark and represents divine blessings and guidance; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the veena refers to arts, heritage and culture; the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, tra...
