RAJA SHIV PRASAD COLLEGE, JHARIA (RSP COLLEGE) The emblem of Raja Shiv Prasad College, Jharia (RSP College) features a lotus on water and a traditional lamp, the name of the place in Devanagari and its motto in Sanskrit ‘उत्तिष्ठत जाग्रत’ (Mantra 14, Valli 3, Chapter 1, Kathopanishad) meaning ‘Arise, Awake’. These are ensconced by a sunburst like circular border inscribed with the name of the college and its year of establishment. The lotus symbolises purity, enlightenment and resilience. The lamp is a traditional symbol of the light of learning that dispels the darkness of ignorance. the sunburst with jagged, circular border represents a sun, symbolising the source of enlightenment and the widening of the mind and spirit.
