JAWAHAR LAL NEHRU GOVERNMENT COLLEGE OF FINE ARTS, SHIMLA (JLNGC FINE ARTS) The emblem of Jawahar Lal Nehru Government College of Fine Arts, Shimla (JLNGC Fine Arts) features a triangular abstract pictorial with a spiral in the centre and nested triangles supported by a base of legs. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘रसो वै सः’ (Anuvaka 7, Brahmananda Valli, Taittiriya Upanishad), which translates to ‘He is of the Nature of the Sap of Delight’ is written on the base. The central spiral represents the dynamic unfolding of creativity from a singular point of focus. The nested triangles represent structure, balance and focus. Visually, the ascending triangle forms a peak, mirroring the towering Himalayan terrain of Shimla where the campus resides, while symbolising the peak of artistic mastery. The structured base represents a solid foundation in traditional artistic disciplines while signifying progress, movement and carrying creative thoughts forward.
