GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, SIHUNTA (GDC SIHUNTA) The emblem of Government Degree College, Sihunta (GDC Sihunta) features a circle with a scene of blue sky with rising orange sun, green mountains with peaks, a red open book and the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ (Rishi Parāśara, 1,19.41, Viṣṇu Purāṇa). The circle is ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The English version of the motto ‘That is Knowledge, Which Liberates’ is written on a red banner placed below the seal. The snow-capped mountain peaks represent the majestic Himalayan geography surrounding the college; the rising sun symbolises the dawn of knowledge, enlightenment and the dispelling of ignorance over the region; and the book serves as a universal symbol for formal learning, academic excellence, and the open dissemination of knowledge to all students.
