SHRI PANDIT PREM NATH DOGRA GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, SAMBA (SPPNDGDC SAMBA) The emblem of Shri Pandit Prem Nath Dogra Government Degree College, Samba (SPPNDGDC Samba) features a cyan circle housing the motifs of an open book supporting a rising sun over water and a lotus. Below the circle, on a cyan banner, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written. A red border ensconcing the cyan circle is inscribed with the name of the college and the text ‘Darkness to Light’. The year of establishment of the college is inscribed on a red banner placed below the seal. The book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; and the lotus denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty.
