GOVERNMENT ENGINEERING COLLEGE, BANKA (GEC BANKA) The emblem of Government Engineering College, Banka (GEC Banka) features a suspension bridge, rising sun over a water body, a rocket and an open book placed in the counter of a yellow sprocket wheel. The wheel is placed over a cyan circle inscribed with the year of the college’s establishment. On a cyan banner placed below the seal, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written. The sprocket wheel symbolises connected motion, power transmission and synergy; the suspension refers to the bridge on the river Chir in Banka; the sun represents life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; and the other motifs refer to the subject disciplines of engineering and technology.
