NIRMALA COLLEGE, RANCHI The red and gold shield-shaped emblem of Nirmala College, Ranchi features a sacred heart, three red roses, golden lily or fleur-de-lis, twelve stars. Below the shield, on a red banner, the motto of the college in Latin ‘Cor Unum Anima Una’ (4:32, Acts of the Apostles), translates to ‘One Heart, One Mind’ is written, The sacred heart symbolises the Sacred Heart of Jesus, representing Christ's love radiating for all mankind; the red roses represent the three major humanitarian works of the SCJM congregation: ‘Teaching, Nursing, and Social Work’; the fleur-de-lis and twelve stars Mother Mary; the red background symbolises love and courage, while the gold elements denote faith and wisdom; and the central gold band is also described as a golden pathway, symbolising a life of love, compassion and selfless service toward the poor.
