JAGANNATH NAGAR COLLEGE, DHURWA, RANCHI (JN COLLEGE) The emblem of Jagannath Nagar College, Dhurwa, Ranchi (JN College) features a circular blue floral spread holding the motifs of a traditional lamp, an open book and its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya,1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’. The motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college and a pair of ears of wheat. The lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the ears of wheat refers to agriculture; and the blue floral circle symbolises wholes, protection and eternity.
