GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, JHANDUTTA (GDC JHANDUTTA) The emblem of Government Degree College, Jhandutta (GDC Jhandutta) features a circle housing the image of a mountain range, pine trees and a verdant landscape, an open book and a glowing lamp. The circle is ensconced by a greenish yellow circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college in Devanagari. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad), which translates to ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is inscribed on a green and cyan banner. The landscape represents the rural Kot Dhar/Jhandutta belt rugged terrain of Himachal Pradesh; the pine trees and landscape emphasise the rich, natural environment of the State; and the lamp symbolises the individual awakening of intellect, wisdom and virtue.
