SYED AMMAL ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE (SAASC) The emblem of Syed Ammal Arts and Science College (SAASC) features a yellow, orange, cyan and green coloured shield inscribed with the motifs of an open book with a pen, a two-pan beam balance, a mortarboard hat, and a trophy. The shield is crested by the name of the college and its name in Tamil circumscribes the shield. This assemblage is ensconced by a black circular border inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘ஒழுக்கத்துடன் கூடிய கல்வி’ meaning ‘Education with Morality’ and the name of the place in Tamil. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book and pen refer to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the balance scale refers to justice, equality and fairness; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; and the trophy symbolises winning, success, and achievement.
