GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, BHADERWAH (GDC BHADERWAH) The emblem of Government Degree College, Bhaderwah (GDC Bhaderwah) features a shield inscribed with a yellow leaf of chinar surmounted by the name of the college and supported by the college’s motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’, in urdu ‘من الظلمات إلى النور’, its year of establishment and the name of the place of the college. The shield is supported by decorative elements on the sides and crested by a soaring eagle. The motto of the college ‘From Darkness to Light’ is inscribed on a banner placed below the shield. The soaring eagle signifies vision, academic ambition, courage and soaring to intellectual heights; the shield is a traditional symbol of defense and preservation. It indicates the college's responsibility to protect knowledge, cultural values and the future of its students; and the chinar leaf represents the natural heritage, peace and iconic landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.
