RABINDRANATH TAGORE GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE SARKAGHAT (RNTGC SANKAGHAT) The emblem of Rabindranath Tagore Government Degree College Sarkaghat (RNTGC Sankaghat) features a bright blue circle housing the motifs of snow peaked mountains supporting an orange rising sun and a swan supported by a banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad), which translates to ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ and the name of the college in Sanskrit. The mountains refers to the Himalayan Peaks representing the geographical location of the college in the hills of Sankaghat; the sun symbolises the light of knowledge and truth dispelling the darkness of ignorance; and the swan is closely associated with Goddess Saraswati, the God of learning, wisdom and the arts and it represents purity and the unique capability of discrimination - the ability to filter good from evil and truth from untruth.
