INSTITUTE OF TEXTILE TECHNOLOGY, CHENNAI (ITT CHENNAI) The shield-shaped emblem of Institute of Textile Technology, Chennai (ITT Chennai) is inscribed with the name of the college, the Tamil word ‘துகில்’ meaning ‘garment’, its initials, a shuttle, and a spindle. Below the shield, on a banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘எங்கள் தொழில் உங்கள் எழில்’ meaning ‘Our Profession is Your Beauty’. The shield is crested with a crown. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the shuttle and spindle are fundamental tools in textile manufacturing; and the crown symbolises sovereign power, authority, legitimacy, and honour.
