GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, SOGAM (GDC SOGAM) The emblem of Government Degree College, Sogam (GDC Sogam) features a pine tree and an open book placed on a background of sky and earth on a circle ensconced by a green circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. A yellow ribbon placed below the book is inscribed with the text ‘Lolab’, Below the seal, on a golden banner, the motto of the college in Urdu ‘علم بڑی دولت ہے’, which translates to ‘Knowledge is A Great Wealth’ is inscribed. The evergreen pine tree, which is signifies longevity, steady growth and resilience, encouraging students to remain firmly rooted while reaching for higher goals; the book represents formal education, literacy, and foundational knowledge from which personal and academic growth blossoms; and the scenery reflects the natural landscape of the picturesque Lolab Valley in the Kupwara district of Jammu & Kashmir.
