PEMIYA RISHIKESH INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (PRIT) The blue gearwheel-shaped emblem of Pemiya Rishikesh Institute of Technology (PRIT) features the motifs of a set of gearwheels, a civil engineering surveyor working with a theodolite and mining infrastructure. The gearwheel is inscribed with the name and place of the college. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad), which translates to ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written above the motifs. The gearwheel denotes technology, engineering, interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure; the three interlocking gears represent mechanical engineering, factory automation, machinery management and systemic synergy; the surveyor operating a theodolite on a tripod symbolises civil engineering, land surveying, architectural mapping and structural layout planning; and the mining headframe or ...
