GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, URI (GDC URI) He emblem of Government Degree College, Uri (GDC Uri) features a yellow circle with blue outline housing the motifs of a blue open book, a pair of blue laurels and a lighted candle with the motto of the college in Arabic ‘من الظلمات إلى النور’, which translates to ‘From Darkness to Light’. Below the circle, on a blue banner, the name of the college is written. The book denotes knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the lighted candle represents the selflessness of educators, the ignition of curiosity and the active elimination of societal ignorance; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; and the motto is taken from the Quranic concept (مينال-زولوماتي إيلان).
