The emblem of Government Degree College, Pattan (GDC Pattan) features an orange circle with abstract depiction of snow clad mountains with bright rising sun in orange and flowing waters ensconced by a green and blue circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. Below the seal, on a violet banner, the motto of the college in Arabic ‘من الظلمات إلى النور’ is written. The rising sun represents dawn, awakening and the dawn of a new era of knowledge. The sun rays cutting across the sky symbolise the spread of education throughout the community, driving away social and intellectual darkness. The snow-capped mountains represent lofty ideals, high ambitions and the local geography. It honours the majestic Himalayan terrain of Kashmir, reminding students to aim high and stand resilient like the peaks. The flowing river represents the continuous flow of knowledge, life and progress. It serves as a metaphor for an ongoing journey of learning and adaptation, while also referencing the local water bodies and natural rivers that sustain the valley.

The university's mission is to inculcate the essence of the Sanskrit Shloka ‘पदं हि सर्वत्र गुणैर्निधीयते’ meaning ‘Good Qualities Put their Footprints Everywhere’. The logo of the university has a blue and green abstract pictorial of ‘U’ and on its right a wordmark of its name in capitals thin serif letters with smooth transition of strokes. The counter of the ‘U’ is filled blue and a stroke of blue and green flows across diagonally from left to right top. This is further cut out by another ‘U’ at the top right corner. The colour blue represents serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour green denotes life, production, fertility, agriculture, environment and nature.
