The circular emblem of Tirunelveli Medical College (TVMC) features the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents crested by a crest of paddy and supported by a banner inscribed with the name of the college and its motto ‘Duty Dignity Discipline’, on a red circle ensconced by a white circular border. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession; and the crest of the paddy refers to the Tirunelveli, the ‘Granary of the South’.

Earlier it was known as Koneru Lakshmaiah College of Engineering (KLCE) and Koneru Lakshmaiah University, located in Vaddeswaram, Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh. The red and blue emblem of the foundation has a gear wheel with twelve teeth of which nine bear the symbols of nine planets. It houses the motifs of a factory, atomic symbol, a bridge and a transmission tower within a circle. There is a border around the circle bearing its name and its motto ‘Knowledge Leadership Universality’. The gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure. The other motifs denote the fields of engineering the university offers to the students. The icons of nine planets may signify the relevance and wishes of the university to benefit from their movements.
