All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bathinda (AIIMS Bathinda) is a medical college and medical research public university based in Bathinda, Punjab, India in 2019. Its golden coloured circular emblem has two two major elements namely its border rimmed by a pair of dark brown lines with a circular banner bearing its name in Devanagari and English in red colour. Inside this are motifs of Staff of Asclepius, is the rod wielded by the Greek God of healing and medicine Asclepius, which represents the healthcare system globally. The staff is topped by a round knob and flanked by wings. The two serpents represent the pineal gland and the pituitary gland (which both look snakelike when uncoiled); the staff represents the spinal column; the knob represents the medulla, and the wings signify the two hemispheres of the brain (the wrinkled cross-section of the brain has the shape and texture of stylized wings); the number of intersections of the snakes corresponds to the endocrine glands or the chakras. This is supported by a pair of laurels of wheat representing Punjab. In the background is the Bathinda Fort, popularly known as Quila Mubarak, is a centuries-old fort. It was also the place where the Empress of Delhi, Razia Sultan, was kept as a prisoner after she was dethroned. It is one of the oldest standing forts in India. Below this its motto in Sanskrit ‘शरीरमाद्यं खलू धर्मसाधनम्’ meaning ‘The Body is indeed the Primary Instrument of Dharma’ is inscribed.
