CHILD RELIEF AND YOU

Child Relief and You (CRY) was born of a dream to ensure happier childhoods for all children. In 1979, Rippan Kapur - an Indian Airlines purser - started CRY with six friends. Today, over four decades later, CRY works with one hundred and two local NGOs across nineteen states in India and has impacted the lives of over three million children. CRY addresses children's critical needs by working with parents, teachers, ‘anganwadi’ (Indian rural child care centre) workers, communities, district and state level governments, as well as the children themselves. CRY works on four key areas: education (right to development); health and nutrition (right to survival); safety; and protection (right to protection) and child participation (right to participation). Its insignia is its acronym written in a childlike handwriting style in white on a black round cornered rectangle. The counter of each of the three letters have a pair of dots symbolising eyes. Its name is written below on a white patch in black.
