URUMU DHANALAKSHMI COLLEGE (UDC) The shield-shaped emblem of Urumu Dhanalakshmi College (UDC) features the motifs of an open book, a ‘kuthuvilakku’ (a traditional lamp), a rocket in transit, and a lotus. The shield is crested by a star. Below the shield, on a banner, the motto of the college is inscribed in English and Tamil. The star symbolises represents perfect harmony among all things in life, with its points providing insight into how we can strive towards achieving this goal; the shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the book refers to education, learning and wisdom; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the rocket symbolises science and technology; and the lotus  denotes purity, enlightenment, rebirth, transformation, personal growth, resilience, overcoming obstacles and divine beauty.
