All India Institute of Medical Sciences Mangalagiri (AIIMS Mangalagiri) is one of the AIIMS healthcare institutes being established by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). In 2018. AIIMS Mangalagiri and NID Andhra Pradesh collaborated in creating a circular emblem for this institute. In the emblem the rising sun on top represents the ‘Sunrise State of Andhra Pradesh’. Sun symbolises the source of life, energy and vitality. Sunrise also symbolises that AIIMS Mangalagiri is first and rising in South India to spread light and enlighten medical science with futuristic vision. Both the shades of green in the outer and inner ring represent the lush green fertile region of Krishna and also the abundance of various floras, faunas and herbs. Green planet is the service AIIMS Mangalagiri goes by. Staff of Asclepius is the rod wielded by the Greek God of healing and medicine Asclepius, which represents the healthcare system globally. ‘M’ symbolises Mangalagiri, the name of the area where AIIMS campus is situated in between beautiful hillocks. Prakasam Barrage is an iconic structure of Andhra Pradesh, which stretches 1223.5 metres across the river Krishna, connecting Guntur and Krishna Districts. It is one of the first major irrigation projects of India, which is around ten kilometres from the Institute. Tulasi is the holy basil, incomparable and is mother medicine of nature; it is one of the sixty rasaushadhi and a natural immunity booster. It represents the Institute’s vision of amalgamation with ‘AYUSH’ as alternative medicine. Neem - the Indian lilac ‘Arista' in Sanskrit (perfect and imperishable) is the traditional; medicine of India, valued as medicinal plant, represents Institute’s vision of amalgamation with ‘AYUSH’ as alternative medicine. DNA - the epitome repository of genetic information integrating genomic medicine from diagnosis to targeted treatment strategies. Sanskrit paraphrase (placed at the bottom) ‘सहल स्वास्थ्ये सर्वदा’ means ‘Complete Health Always’.
