ALL INDIA INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL SCIENCES RISHIKESH |
Set in natural beauty and close to the sacred Ganges, All India Institute of Medical Sciences Rishikesh was strategically located to address regional imbalances in healthcare services, research, and training. It was established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna’s first phase in 2012 and supported to be an autonomous body. It has an interesting circular emblem. The mountains and river represent the unique locale and role of nature in health. The staff of Asclepius made of raw wood represents the unending opportunities to carve originalities in medicine, as also the traditional symbol of medicine. The spiked outer wheel represents the prominent contribution of the latest technology in medical science. The Sanskrit motto underneath - ‘Vishwa Arogyam hi Dharmo Nah’ is the goal and vision of the Institute. It means Global health is the religion for us. In Sanskrit ‘विश्व आरोग्यं हि धर्मो नः’; in Hindi ‘विश्व को रोग रहित बनाना ही हमारा धर्म है’ and in English ‘Global Health is the Religion for Us’. Spiked outer wheel represents the prominent contribution of the latest technology in medical science. Tread patterns of wheel are ideal as an emblem of change which is ever occurring. Each tread projection suggests sixteen attributes and aspirations of AIIMS Rishikesh, rendering the logo as meaningful, in entirety.
