VELUMANOHARAN ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE FOR WOMEN (VMASCW) The emblem of Velumanoharan Arts and Science College For Women (VMASCW) features a shield with riveted metal borders housing the motifs of a pair of women holding the torch of knowledge, an open book and a mortarboard hat surmounted by a blue circular border inscribed with the name of the college and supported by a pair of laurels on the sides and a yellow banner inscribed with the motto of the college ‘Empowering Women for Change’ at the bottom. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; women refer to the student and the teacher; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power.; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
