The emblem of Government Arts and Science College, Arakkonam (GASC Arakkonam) features a dark violet shield housing the image of poet Thiruvalluvar and the motifs of a stack of books and a laptop computer ensconced by a pink circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. A yellow banner supporting the shield is inscribed with the motto of the college in Tamil ‘கற்க கசடற’ (391, Thirukkural, Thiruvalluvar) meaning ‘Learn Thoroughly What Should be Learned’. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the books refer to learning, knowledge, education and wisdom; and the image of Thiruvalluvar refers to Tamil literature and heritage.

The green toned circular emblem of the university has a motif of a farmer tilling the soil using cattle and plough placed over an open book signifying the knowledge, wisdom and education of agriculture. Below this its motto in Sanskrit ‘कृषि मूलम् जगत् सर्वम्’ meaning ‘Agriculture is the Root of the World’ is written. All these are ensconced in two circular borders, of which one carries its name and place in English and the outer one carries its name and place in Devanagari supported by a pair of wheat ears. The ears of wheat signifies prosperity, food, wealth and nourishment and the colour green signifies agriculture, nature, growth, balance, harmony, environment, prosperity, vitality, prestige, wealth and being very down to earth.

DIRECTORATE OF FORENSIC SCIENCE SERVICES During 1983, the then Scientific Advisory Committee to the Cabinet (SAC-C) under the overall guidance of an Expert Committee chaired by Prof. M. M. Sharma, FRS, recommended that the laboratories in Delhi, Calcutta and Hyderabad must be developed as Science and Technology institutions, functioning in an autonomous fashion. In the first phase, the three Central Forensic Science Laboratories at Calcutta, Hyderabad, and Chandigarh were restructured into six scientific division viz.
