KARUR MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL
(KARURGMC) |
The emblem of Government Karur Medical College and Hospital (KarurGMC) features the motifs of confluence of rivers Cauvery and Amaravati supporting the Staff of Hermes or Staff of Caduceus with a pair of wings and entwined by a pair of serpents and crested by an open book. These motifs are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The motto of the college ‘Learning to Serve’ is inscribed on a red banner placed below the seal. The rivers Cauvery and Amaravati nourish the District of Karur. The staff with the snake has long been a symbol of medicine and the medical profession.
