The emblem of Stella Mary’s college of Education (SMCE) features a panel housing a decorated plaque housing the motifs of an open book inscribed with a cross and supported by a pair of laurels with the tagline of the college ‘Praise the Lord Born to Learn’ written around. The name of the college is written on the right in red, green and blue sans-serif capitals. The book refers to education, learning, knowledge and wisdom; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; and the cross is the primary symbol of Christianity, representing the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, his victory over sin and death, and his ultimate sacrifice for humanity.

The central motifs of the winged Staff of Caduceus entwined by a pair of serpents crested with a flaming torch, supported by an open book and a pair of laurels replace the Lion Capital; and the name, place and motto of the college replace the name of the State. The motto of the college in Sanskrit is ‘विद्यया विन्दते अमृतम्’ (Mantra 2.4, Kenopanishad), which translates to ‘Immortality Through Knowledge’. The Staff of Caduceus symbolises medicine and medical profession; the book symbolises the accumulation and dissemination of medical knowledge and the academic foundation of the institution; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power; and the laurels are symbols, which represent victory, honour and academic excellence.
