EMBLEM OF ARUNACHAL PRADESH
Arunachal Pradesh is the easternmost state of India. This part of the Himalayas, containing the sources of the Brahmaputra. On its territory the North East Frontier Agency - NEFA was created in 1954. This Agency administrated until 1972 as a part of Assam. In 1972 Arunachal Pradesh became a Territory of the Union. It was given the status of a State in 1986. The emblem of the state shows a rising sun between the two highest peaks of the country: the Komdi - 4185 metre and the Daphabum - 4578 metre. In the middle is a buffalo’s head and on both sides, as a kind of supporters, two Greater Indian Hornbills (Buceros Bicornis - Bucerotidae) the state bird of Arunachal Pradesh.In chief is the national emblem of India.
