EMBLEM OF WEST BENGAL
The emblem consists of a circle depicting a globe with the state of West Bengal highlighted by a representation of the Bengali alphabet 'পশ্চিমবঙ্গ সরকার'. The National Emblem of India appears above the globe and the emblem includes the name of the state in the English. The central element of the emblem was also used by the Biswa Bangla campaign to promote sale of traditional West Bengali handicrafts and textiles. The current emblem was designed by Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of the state and was officially adopted in January 2018. This logo, known as ‘Banglarmukh’ or Face of Bengal, depicted a female face surround by a red veil.

The name and place of the college is written around the circle. A purple laurel supports the seal. The mountains and river refer to the local topography of snow-capped peaks of the Himalayan mountain ranges; the lightning bolt symbiosis raw energy, power, enlightenment, and the sparking of knowledge; and the laurels represent a traditional laurel wreath, which symbolises academic triumph, victory and the pursuit of honour.

GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, HIRANAGAR (GDC HIRANAGAR) The emblem of Government Degree College, Hiranagar (GDC Hiranagar) features an entrance arch with a traditional lamp supported by an open book with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘सा विद्या या विमुक्तये’ Rishi Parāśara, 1,19.41, Viṣṇu Purāṇa), which translates to  ‘Knowledge is the One That Liberates’ is written at the bottom. An image of Goddess Saraswati is placed on the right and an image of a palm tree placed on the right. All these are ensconced by red circular outlines and surmounted by the name of the college. GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, AKHNOOR (GDC AKHNOOR) The emblem of Government Degree College, Akhnoor (GDC Akhnoor) features an open book supporting a rising sun, surmounted by  the motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ and ensconced by a yellow circular border inscribed by the college’s motto ‘From Darkness to Light’ and its tagline ‘Let Truth Prevail’. The acronym of the college ‘GDC Akhnoor’ is written on the blues base of the emblem. The book represents the primary source of literacy, formal education and continuous academic learning; and the sun symbolises the dawn of wisdom, intellectual awakening and the dispersion of the darkness of ignorance through knowledge.
