EMBLEM OF ODISHA
The state emblem of Odisha incorporates a horse which is about to be mounted by a rider. This is a reproduction of a sculpture found in the famous Sun Temple of Konark in the eastern sea coast of Odisha. This has been adapted as a state emblem by Government of Orissa. Home Department resolution dated the third August 1964 through order Number 20634-IE.-1/64-Pol. The order says “The question of adopting a separate State Emblem for this State in place of Ashoka Pillar’ was under consideration of Government. On the advice of the Sub-committee appointed by the Council of Ministers it was decided to adopt the design of the ‘Konark Horse’ symbolizing discipline, strength and progress as the State Emblem”.

UTTARANCHAL UNIVERSITY Uttaranchal University has come a long way since its inception in 2013 providing world class multidisciplinary education. The university's mission is to inculcate the essence of the Sanskrit Shloka ‘पदं हि सर्वत्र गुणैर्निधीयते’ meaning ‘Good Qualities Put their Footprints Everywhere’. The logo of the university has a blue and green abstract pictorial of ‘U’ and on its right a wordmark of its name in capitals thin serif letters with smooth transition of strokes. The counter of the ‘U’ is filled blue and a stroke of blue and green flows across diagonally from left to right top. This is further cut out by another ‘U’ at the top right corner. The colour blue represents serenity, calmness, trust, spirituality, calmness, wisdom, freedom, openness, intelligence and loyalty and the colour green denotes life, production, fertility, agriculture, environment and nature. The logo is modern, trendy and attractive.

The shield traditionally represents protection, defence against ignorance and the preservation of values and moral integrity; the crossed kirpans symbolise the balance between temporal (worldly) power and spiritual authority and represent the willingness to stand up for righteousness (Dharma), defend the weak, and cut through falsehood; the torch with flame is a universal symbol for enlightenment, knowledge and truth.
