EMBLEM OF MEGHALAYA
The state emblem consists of mountain peaks representing Khasi, Jaintia and Garo hills with clouds, alluding with the State’s name ‘abode of clouds’; three monoliths representing three tribes; a ‘wangala’ festival drum and a pair of ‘rikgitok’ and ‘paila’ beaded necklaces; which is topped by the name ‘Government of Megahlaya’. This vibrant coloured emblem was formally unveiled by Metbah Lyngdoh, the Assembly Speaker during the golden jubilee celebrations of statehood on January 21, 2022. This was selected through an open competition amongst the citizens of the state. The design submitted by Mario Pathaw on December 23, 2021. The state Cabinet examined the design on January 11 and again on January 17 after which the approval was give on January 19 2022.

GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, PADDER (GDC PADDER) The emblem of Government Degree College, Padder (GDC Padder) features a traditional diya in the colours of National Flag with a glowing orangish flame supporting an open book. The lamp is inscribed with the year of establishment of the college, the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘बुद्धिर्ज्ञानेन शुद्ध्यति’ ((Shloka 109, Adhyay 5, Manu Smriti) and (Shloka 72, Adhyaya 46 , Uttara Ardha , Kashi Khanda , Skanda Purana)), which translates to ‘Intellect is Cleansed by Knowledge’ and the initials of the college ‘G.D.C. Padder’. The book represents formal education, the accumulation of learning and the storehouse of information accessible to the students; and the flame of the diya signifies the light of wisdom, enlightenment and the ultimate destruction of the darkness of ignorance through higher education. CHENNAI ARTS AND SCIENCE COLLEGE (CASC) The emblem of Chennai Arts and Science College (CASC) features a yellow shield with green outlines inscribed with the monogram of the initials of ‘CASC’ depicting a diagram of an atom. The shield is ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college. The seal is supported on the sides by a pair of laurels and an open book at the bottom. Below these, the motto of the college ‘Passion Perseverance Excellence’ is inscribed on a golden banner. The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; the atomic structure refer to science; the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication; the book refers to education, learning and wisdom; and the colour yellow signifies happiness, energy, vitality, focus and creativity.

PALLAVA DYNASTY - BULL The Pallava Dynasty existed from 275 CE to 897 CE, ruling a significant portion of the Deccan, also known as Thondaimandalam. The dynasty rose to prominence after the downfall of the Satavahana dynasty, with whom they had formerly served as feudatories. The Pallavas became a major South Indian power during the reign of Mahendravarman I(600–630 CE) and Narasimhavarman I (630–668 CE), dominating for about 600 years, until the end of the 9th century. Kancheepuram served as the capital of the Pallava kingdom.  They developed the Pallava script, from which, Grantha ultimately took form. This script eventually gave rise to several other Southeast Asian scripts such Khmer. The Chinese traveller Xuanzang visited Kanchipuram during Pallava rule and extolled their benign rule. PACIFIC MEDICAL UNIVERSITY The insignia of Pacific Medical University (PMU) has a red cross with a flame atop, superimposed by a green path and surmounted by a rising sun and supported by a ‘kalash’ overwritten by a its acronym ‘PMU’ are placed over the background of ocean. DESH BHAGAT UNIVERSITY The orange and blue emblem of Desh Bhagat University (DBU) has a nib of a pen divided into three vertical parts denoting research, innovation and entrepreneurship, with its acronym ‘DBU’ written on it. An orange flame is placed above the nib and its year of inception is placed below the nib. Its name is written in blue on its right and below this its motto is written in orange. ALIGARH MUSLIM UNIVERSITY Aligarh Muslim University grew out of the work of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. Raja Jai Kishan helped Sir Syed in establishing the university. The British decision to replace the use of Persian in 1842 for government employment and as the language of Courts of Law caused deep anxiety among Muslims of the sub-continent. His purpose for the establishment of the Scientific Society in 1864, in Aligarh. Sir Syed's son, Syed Mahmood, who was an alumnus of Cambridge prepared a proposal for an independent university to the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College Fund Committee upon his return from England in 1872. Syed Mahmood continued to work along with his father in founding the college. By 1920 the college was transformed into the Aligarh Muslim University.
