At the bottom, on a yellow banner, the motto of the college in Tamil ‘அறிவே உயர்வு’ meaning ‘Knowledge is Supreme’ is written. The temple refers to the local heritage and history and the blessings and guidance of the divine; the plantain tree symbolises fertility, prosperity, nourishment, and the cycle of life; the lamp symbolises light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity; the palm leaf manuscripts refer to traditional knowledge, heritage, education, learning and wisdom.
