The shield denotes protection, courage, heritage, authority and bravery; women refer to the student and the teacher; the torch with flame is an emblem of enlightenment, hope, life, truth and the regenerative power.; the book refers to knowledge, education, learning and wisdom; the mortarboard hat or Oxford hat denotes educational achievement, equality, tradition and rights of passage; and the laurels are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.
