The National Academy of Sciences, India (NSAI) has a traditional lamp supported by its year of establishment placed within a circular design of sixteen flames placed on an orange background. The name of the organisation in red Devanagari surmounts and supports the motif. All these are ensconced in a blue circular border, which is inscribed by its name in sans serif white text. The traditional lamp refers to light, illumination, awakening, devotion, purity, guidance, protection, hope and prosperity to  and the sixteen flames refer to victory of light over darkness of ignorance from all sixteen directions, dispelling of negativity, profound purity and energy, positivism and completeness and wholeness.
