PADMA SHRI

The fourth highest civilian honour of Padma Shri (Noble One in Blossom) medal produced in the Government of India Mint, Kolkata is made of toned bronze. It has a five petalled lotus spread crested by ‘पद्म’ and supported ‘श्री’ is ensconced by an outline design based on square intersecting with rectangles in obverse and the National Emblem of the Lion Capital ensconced by an identical square based outline on the reverse. The lotus with five petals is a symbol of beauty and refers to the absolute purity, honesty, rebirth, self-regeneration and enlightenment. It also refers to divinity, creation and spiritual power.
