The highest civilian honour of Bharat Ratna produced in the Government of India Mint, Kolkata  is made of bronze and is in the shape of peepal leaf with platinum rim carrying the motif of a sunburst in platinum and inscribed with ‘भारत रत्न’ in obverse and on the reverse bears the motif of Lion Capital, the National Emblem supported by the National Motto ‘सत्यमेव जयते’. The leaf of peepal tree (Ficus Religiosa), bodhi tree, sacred fig or ashwattha tree which is considered sacred refers to enlightenment, peace, wisdom, longevity and divinity and the sunburst refers to eternity, divine right, halo, energy, vitality and new day.
