The circular seal of North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda & Homoeopathy (NEIAH) has a blue circle housing the motifs of a sun, the Staff of Hermes and mortar and pestle and its tagline. The circle is ensconced by a white circular border on which its name is inscribed in English and Devanagari. On the mortar its motto in Sanskrit ‘सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः’ (1.4.14, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘May All be Healthy’ is written. Below the circle, on a banner its date of establishment and ‘Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India’ are written. The Staff of Hermes refers to medicine and medical profession; the sun refers to life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity and the mortar and pestle refer to the traditional medical systems.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The motto of the university in Sanskrit ‘विद्यया विन्दतेऽमृतम्’ (Verse 4 II, Kena Upanishad) meaning ‘By Self-knowledge Immortality is Attained’ is written at the bottom of the emblem.
