These are ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college. The motto of the college in Tamil ‘திறம்பட கல் உலகினை வெல்’ meaning ‘Study Effectively, Conquer the World’ is inscribed on a blue banner placed below the seal. The book refers to learning, knowledge, education and wisdom; the bow and arrow with a pen head symbolises intellectual strength, skill, focus, and purpose, representing divine power, readiness for battle, protection, and guidance; the microscope and veena refer to science and arts respectively, and the laurels are are symbols of ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

KIIT owes its existence to the vision of its founder Prof. Achyuta Samanta. The green colour emblem of the institute has a bottom half of a gear wheel supporting the acronym ‘KIIT’ of its name in which the two ‘i’s depicting two humans. The gear wheel symbolises interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure.
