KRISHNA RIVER MANAGEMENT BOARD

The emblem of Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) has a two pan beam balance of two water droplets placed above the map of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana supported by the Ashoka Chakra and a pair of golden laurels. These are ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with its name in Devanagari, Telugu and English. Below the circle, on a green banner, its motto ‘Equity Equality Justice’. The emblem is crested by the Ashoka’s Lion Capital, which is the National Emblem. The balance refers to the equitable distribution of water to the stakeholders and the laurels refer to  ceremonies, victory, achievement, hard work and dedication.

THE JAMMU & KASHMIR LIGHT INFANTRY India's first Light Infantry was born out of the peoples' response in 1947, to the invasion of Kashmir by Pakistan. In the difficult days of the invasion, the population formed local defence groups. These were later organised into militias responsible for specific sectors, e.g., Leh, Nubra, Jammu, Punch, etc. Over a period, these were grouped into the Militia battalions. Two of these were later converted into the Ladakh Scouts. The militia battalions operated with skill on the Line of Control (LoC) and in the 1971 Indo-Pak War earned three battle honours. In 1972, the militia battalions were brought on par with the army units, and in 1976 designated the Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI). The 8th JAK LI earned great honour by capturing a Pakistani post at 21,000 feet at the Siachen Glacier in 1987. These are supported by a partial wheel of gear, in the counter of which its motto in Sanskrit ‘विश्वं ग्रामे प्रतिष्टितम्' meaning 'The World is Established from the Village' is inscribed. The crown of wheat symbolises agriculture and village produce; the pair of footwear of Mahatma denote that the university follows in the footsteps of his ideals; the rising sun denotes life, energy, power, positivity, illumination, light and clarity and the gear wheel denotes interconnectedness, efficiency, precision, progress, advancement, synchronisation, timing, order and structure.
