The pictorial emblem of RNS Institute of Technology (RNSIT) has a pair of elephants  supporting a three petalled flower housing the images of an electrical diagram, an antenna tower and a computer. It is crested by ‘RNS’ and supported by the rest of its name. All these are placed on a blue flower shaped background with golden outlines. The motifs denote the domains of engineering and the elephants refer to power, strength, unity and wisdom.

MUSHIKA According to the Ganesha Purana, Ganesha's mouse, originally a celestial musician named Krauncha, accidentally insulted Muni Vamadeva at Lord Indra’s  darbar and was cursed to become a mouse. But Krauncha was as big as a mountain and he damaged the Ashram of Sage Parâshara. The sage invoked Ganesha who unleashed his pasha (noose) and it looped round Krauncha’s neck and brought him to Ganesha's feet. Ganesha decided to take him as his vehicle. But when Ganesha stood on Krauncha he was too heavy and Krauncha cried out with pain. Ganesha took pity on him and made himself light and Krauncha has happily borne Him since. Others view the rat as a symbol suggesting that Ganesha, like the rat, penetrates even the most secret places. Or that Mushika attests to the all-pervasiveness of Ganesha carrying his grace into every nook and cranny. DIRECTOR GENERAL OF LIGHTHOUSES AND LIGHTSHIPS The circular seal of the Director General of Lighthouses and Lightships (DGLL) has a lighthouse and a lightship on water placed on a light blue background along with ‘दीपस्तंभ दीपपोत’ meaning ‘Lighthouse Lightship’. These are ensconced in a red circular border on which ‘Lighthouses Lightships’ and ‘India’ are inscribed. Below this ‘भारत’ is written. At the bottom, on a blue banner its motto in Sanskrit ‘तमसो मा ज्योतिर्गमय’ (Yajnavalkya, 1.3.28, Pavamana Mantra, Brihadaranyaka Upanishad) meaning ‘From Darkness Lead Me to Light’ is written.

The emblem of the university has a motif of an industrial unit with chimney representing the application and practice of engineering supported by an open book symbolising education, knowledge and wisdom are ensconced by a gear wheel which represents interconnectedness; efficiency and precision; progress and advancement; synchronisation and timing and order and structure. On the gear wheel, the name of the university is inscribed. At the bottom, on an oblong banner the motto of the university ‘Progress Through Knowledge’ is written.
