The Bombay Burmah Trading Corporation Limited (BBTCL) is a 150-year-old company, which founded its fortunes on teak in the year 1863, as a public company. The company is a leading concern of the Wadia Group, a reputed Indian business house with interests in plantations, foods, textiles, chemicals, electronics and light engineering, healthcare and real estate. Bombay Burmah, Bombay Dyeing and Britannia are the mastheads of the Wadia Group. Its dark green colour emblem is a monogram using the letters B and B. The letters are treated as feathers of a peacock and are supported by a profile of the bird. This is placed in a green circle. This is an appropriate and representative emblem for the business in which this company operates.

SAMBALPUR UNIVERSITY The Sambalpur University Act was passed by the Odisha Legislature on December 10, 1966 and the University started functioning from January 1, 1967. The university was inaugurated on January 4, 1967. In 1973 the University was shifted to the present campus named Jyoti Vihar at Burla. The emblem of the university has the motifs of gear wheels, chimney and electric transmission tower representing industry; plough representing agriculture; deer representing the local wildlife; an open book denoting knowledge and wisdom; a torch symbolising light, truth and power; the Wheel of Konark symbolising Odisha’s culture and history and river symbolising Mahanadi. All these are ensconced by a circular border and along the border the name of the university is written. The green toned circular emblem of the university has a motif of a farmer tilling the soil using cattle and plough placed over an open book signifying the knowledge, wisdom and education of agriculture. Below this its motto in Sanskrit ‘कृषि मूलम् जगत् सर्वम्’ meaning ‘Agriculture is the Root of the World’ is written.
