The emblem of Government Degree College, Handwara (GDC Handwara) features an open book inscribed with the words ‘Knowledge is Power’, another book and a lighted candle, ensconced by a blue circular border inscribed with the name of the college. A red banner inscribed with a Arabic prayer ‘رَّبِّ زِدْنِي عِلْمًا’, which translates to ‘O my Lord, Increase Me in Knowledge’ is placed below the motifs. The book symbolises formal education, literacy, and continuous learning ; and the lit candle symbolises the illumination of mind and soul, guiding students away from the darkness of ignorance through wisdom.

UTTARANCHAL UNIVERSITY Uttaranchal University has come a long way since its inception in 2013 providing world class multidisciplinary education. The university's mission is to inculcate the essence of the Sanskrit Shloka ‘पदं हि सर्वत्र गुणैर्निधीयते’ meaning ‘Good Qualities Put their Footprints Everywhere’.
