The emblem of Government Sanskrit College Sundernagar (GSC Sundernagar) features a circle with water and a swan ensconced by a red circular border inscribed with the name and place of the college in Devanagari and supported by a red banner inscribed with the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘गोपाय मा भेषदिडेअहमस्मि’ (2.4, Nirukta, Yāska, the Rigveda Prātīśākhya and subsequently quoted in the 2.114, Manusmriti), which translates to ‘Please protect me. I am Your Sacred Treasure’ and the text “Est.1923’. A blue circular border inscribed with text ‘Celebrating 100 Years of Existence In Sanskrit Excellence’ holds the seal. The swan or hamsa is a traditional Indian symbol for the Paramatman (the Supreme Soul) and high spiritual intellect and it represents Viveka—the rare capability to discriminate between the eternal truth and the transitory material world; the wavy water lines represent the flow of worldly existence, life's active duties (Karma) and the spreading of knowledge across the region.
