The emblem of Government Degree College Sarahan (GC Sarahan) features a circle housing the motifs of a snow-capped mountain range with blue sky, yellow sun and green valleys and a banner inscribed with the tagline of the college in Sanskrit which is an extract from the Kathopanishad ‘विद्ययाऽमृतमश्नुते’ (Shloka 11, Ishopanishad), which translates to ‘Immortality is Gained from Learning’. The circle is ensconced by a yellow ochre circular border inscribed in blue with the name and place of the college in Devanagari. The motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘तस्य तपो दमः कर्मेति प्रतिष्ठा’ (Section 4, Kena Upanishad, Sama Veda), which translates to ‘Austerity, Self-control and Work are Its Foundation’ is written on a yellow ochre banner, which displaced below the seal. The mountain range refers to Himalayan Mountains, which represents the scenic geographical location of the institution nestled in the lower Shivalik hills near the Bhur-Singh-Ki-Dhar peak; the rising sun over the mountains symbolizes the awakening of knowledge, enlightenment and the dispelling of regional backwardness; and the book is a universal symbol of higher learning, accessibility to education and intellectual growth.
