GOVERNMENT DEGREE COLLEGE, RIRKMAR (GDC RIRKMAR)

The emblem of Government Degree College, Rirkmar (GDC Rirkmar) features a circle housing the motifs of a local temple, radiating orange sun and an open book, ensconced by a circular border inscribed with the name of the college, a pair of stars and the motto of the college in Sanskrit ‘विद्या ददाति विनयम्’ (Narayan Pandit, 6, Hitopadesha), which translates to ‘Education Makes one Humble’. The temple structure anchors the institution to the cultural heritage and geographical landscape of its regional community; the book represents the pursuit of higher education, academic learning and the storehouse of universal knowledge; the sun symbolises the dawning of enlightenment, the removal of ignorance and the bright future awaiting students; and the stars signify high achievements, excellence and the guidance the institution provides.
